How to use Chat in Caresquare

The Chat feature allows staff within the organisation to communicate directly with each other within the system. You can start direct messages with a staff member or create channels for group conversations

Accessing Chat

  1. Click the Chat icon (chat bubble) located at the top right-hand corner of the screen, beside the Notifications icon.

  2. This will open the Organisation Chat panel where you can start conversations or create channels.

Starting a Direct Message

To send a direct message to another staff member:

  1. Click the Plus (+) button in the chat panel.

  2. Search for the staff member’s name.

  3. Select the staff member.

  4. Click Start Conversation.

You can now send messages directly to that staff member within CareSquare.

Creating a Channel

Channels allow you to communicate with two or more staff members in a shared conversation.

  1. Click the Plus (+) button in the chat panel.

  2. Select Create Channel.

  3. Enter a Channel Name (this is a required field).

  4. Optionally, add a description for the channel.

  5. Add the members you want to include.

  6. Click Create.

Once created, all selected members will be able to participate in the conversation.

Managing a Channel

To manage an existing channel:

  1. Open the channel.

  2. Click the Details icon located at the top right-hand corner of the chat window.

  3. Click Edit.

From here, you can:

  • Update the channel name

  • Edit the channel description

  • Add new members

Adding Members to a Channel

  1. Click Add Member.

  2. Search for the staff member’s name.

  3. Select the staff member.

  4. Click Add.

Leaving or Deleting a Channel

Within the Channel Details section, you also have the option to:

  • Leave the channel

  • Delete the channel

This allows you to manage conversations and remove channels that are no longer needed.
