TestFlight is Apple’s platform that allows developers to distribute beta versions of their apps to testers before releasing them on the App Store. As an external tester, you’ll use TestFlight to install, test, and provide feedback on pre-release versions of apps. This guide will walk you through the steps to install TestFlight, accept an invitation to test an app, install the app, and manage updates.
1. Install TestFlight
Before testing any apps, you need to have the TestFlight app installed on your device.
On your iOS device:
Open the App Store.
Search for “TestFlight.”
Tap the download icon to install the app.
2. Accept the Invitation
If you are part of the testing group, you will receive an email inviting you to TestFlight. This email address should be associated with an Apple ID.
Open the invitation email on your iOS device.
Tap the “View in TestFlight” button.
This will open the TestFlight app and display the app you’re invited to test.

3. Install the Beta App
Once you’ve accepted the invitation:
In the TestFlight app, you’ll see the app available for testing.
Tap the “Install” button to download and install the beta app on your device.
4. Provide Feedback
Your feedback is valuable to developers. To send feedback:
Open the beta app.
Take a screenshot by pressing the side button and the volume up button simultaneously.
A prompt will appear allowing you to send the screenshot with comments to the developer via TestFlight.
5. Install Updates
We may release updates to the beta app during the testing period.
Open the TestFlight app.
If an update is available, you’ll see an “Update” button next to the app.
Tap “Update” to install the latest version.
6. Stop Testing
If you wish to stop testing:
• Open the TestFlight app.
• Select the app you want to stop testing.
• Scroll down and tap “Stop Testing.”
Additional Notes:
Beta App Expiry: Beta builds are available for testing for up to 90 days from the day we upload them. The number of days remaining is displayed in TestFlight.
Automatic Updates: TestFlight can automatically update apps when new builds are available. Ensure this setting is enabled in TestFlight’s settings.
Multiple Devices: You can install the beta app on multiple devices using the same Apple ID.
